ABOUT US
Rough Cut Reviews was created in 2004 by friends Craig Friel and Stephen Callaghan, who had a mutual love of movies and everything movie related. The site was started as a hobby and ticked along nicely until 2007. 2007 saw Stephen our co-chief, move to pastures new, however the loss of such a great asset only made us hungrier to succeed and that, we have. We've watched our little hobby grow exponentially and Rough Cut Reviews can now be found all over the net - in fact our news stories regularly feature on Google News. We've grown from a 2 man operation and are now international with our American correspondent Jacob and our most recent recruit Sam, the man from down-under.
2009 was one of the best years in film for a while bringing James Cameron's long awaited AVATAR which is now the highest grossing film of all time, Quentin Tarantino's INGLORIOUS BASTERDS and some other instant classics. Looking ahead to future years, things only look to be getting bigger, especially now that we’ll be seeing even more 3-D movies.
So, whether it be romantic comedies, edgy drama's, gory horror, Rough Cut Reviews will be there to share all the latest goings on and share (or argue) our points about all the latest reviews, previews and news whether it be past, present or future.
A Brief history of our Design...
When we first started out, our site was black and white but went through many different incarnations. We were aiming for a simplistic and sleek look, but before long it began to look boring and out-dated. So we decided to inject some much needed colour.

With that our Red, White and Gray look was born in early 2008. While the site was much sleeker and had a much better feel, we always felt there was something that wasn't quite right and after just under a year was scrapped unceremoniously.

It became clear in 2009, that our site was growing faster than we could have ever anticipated. We decided we needed to get bang up to date, and at the same time make our lives a tad simpler.... A database! And version 3 was born!

What does the future hold? Well, who knows but there are definitely no plans to redesign any time soon but we'll never say never...
"Special thanks to our un-official secretary and proof reader Charlee P for correcting my atrocious grammar. We'd be lost without you :-)
