Three young boys Jimmy (Penn), Dave (Robbins) and Sean (Bacon) who are best of friends, grow apart after horrific events that see one of the boys abducted. Year’s later their lives cross paths again after another tragedy. Jimmy’s 19 year old daughter has been brutally murdered and the evidence points to Dave. Sean now a cop must find out what happened while trying to keep volatile Jimmy from taking matters into his own hands.
No huge budget and no visual effects this film relies 100% on the characters and the performances of this ensemble cast. All the cast are excellent in their portrayals and Penn & Robbins’s Academy awards are well deserved. Clint Eastwood delivers a truly masterful piece of work. Many so-called directors could learn a lot from Clint’s style of story telling. I feel Eastwood was robbed for an Oscar, due to the LORD OF THE RINGS hype.
A Must see film. Excellent stuff!
