REVIEW - ROUGH CUT (2009)

Not to be confused with Korean movie of the same name which you will find if you look the movie up (Along with our site), ROUGH CUT is a documentary based on events in January 2003 where Randi Trimble was found murdered, having been beaten and strangled before being stabbed 27 times. Eight months before the victim's husband Brian Trimble and friend Blaine Norris, who were first-time film makers were making a Horror movie called THROUGH HIKE. The documentary tells the tale of how events unfolded which lead to them being suspects in the murder.

From the get go, this won't be a usual review which points out the positive and negative aspects of the movie, it's not something that can be enjoyed as such - more experienced. Having watched it, it's also very difficult to remain unbiased about those involved so instead I won't go into any great detail about the story itself. ROUGH CUT is an interesting look inside the events of the time which uses some of the behind the scenes footage and interviews with those involved to good effect. If you're interested in watching documentaries and regularly tune into the channels featuring programs liked 'Cold Case Files' and 'FBI files' then this should grab your attention.

Overall, an interesting piece which people should see if only to experience a real life horror. It's a very well put together documentary that but it's most likely have you struggling to remain unbiased like myself. This is probably one of the most difficult reviews I've ever had to write - It's difficult to say that you enjoy something that had such and adverse effect on so many people's life's. Still, it's score highly as it's a very professional presentation which I will have no hesitation in mentioning to others to see.

Special thanks go out to Sean Gaston who co-produced and co-wrote the documentary and was also involved with the THROUGH HIKE, for taking the time to send the movie over to us.
